A Fortress of Stories: The Beginning of an Indie Game Studio
There’s something powerful about starting from nothing.
When you’re alone with an idea — just a blank screen, a sketchbook, a quiet evening and the weight of a world you want to build — it’s both terrifying and exhilarating. That’s how Fortress Interior Studio was born: not in a boardroom or a flashy announcement trailer, but in the quiet conviction that stories still matter, and that games are one of the most powerful ways to tell them.
A One-Person Studio, With a Vision
My name is Nicolò, and I’m the solo developer behind Fortress Interior. I’ve been involved with game development for over 7 years at the moment, ever since completing my master’s degree in Videogames Design and Production. Since then, game creation has been more than just a passion — it’s become my way of thinking, creating, and expressing.
Fortress Interior is, for now, a one-person operation. I’m a game designer, storyteller, and worldbuilder. I do this not for trends or quick launches, but for the stories I want to tell — stories that take shape in code, mechanics, visuals, and the choices players make.
Why “Fortress Interior”?
The name came from a personal idea: a fortress not made of stone or walls, but of thoughts, experiences, and imagination. A place where stories live and worlds are born. This “interior fortress” is what I want every game to feel like — a crafted space full of atmosphere, meaning, and purpose.
The games I will create under this name won’t be tied to a single genre or formula. I want the freedom to explore — from dark science fiction to fantastical myth, from silent survival to richly written adventures. Each project will be unique, but all will carry a signature: immersive, story-driven design that invites the player to feel something.
What Comes Next
At the time of writing, I’m actively working on three different projects. They’re still in early stages, and I’m not ready to reveal them just yet. But soon, I’ll start sharing details about the first title, which will be the studio’s debut — a project that I hope will set the tone for what Fortress Interior aims to be.
If you want to stay updated, the best way is through my social channels — particularly Instagram, where I’ll be posting behind-the-scenes content, visual previews, and insights from the development process. Occasionally, I’ll also post longer devlogs here on the site when there’s something deeper to share.
A Future Worth Building
I don’t intend for Fortress Interior to stay a solo effort forever. This is just the beginning — a foundation. My long-term goal is to grow the studio into a real team, to bring in collaborators who share the same values and desire to build something lasting. I want to work on larger projects, bigger stories, and more ambitious worlds — but always with the same core: meaning, immersion, and heart.
The industry often moves fast, but I’m not chasing speed. I’m building carefully, learning, experimenting. This is a slow burn — and that’s exactly how I want it.
Why I Make Games
I’ve always loved stories. Not just in games, but in everything — books, films, comics, shows. Anything that lets me dive into another world and feel something new. That passion is what drives every decision I make as a developer.
When you play one of my games, I don’t just want you to be entertained. I want you to feel pleasure, to connect with something, and to walk away remembering the experience. If you come away with a story that stayed with you, then I’ve done my job.
Stay Connected
